CWSA Disability Section

This section was initiated to promote and develop the use of all the resources of Covenham, by people with disabilities. To date, the combined efforts of all members has achieved the following:

 A totally accessible building with user friendly, changing and showering facilities.

 A specially fabricated, stable pontoon section on which the personal hoist can operate.

 Specialised dinghies that cater for a range of abilities.

 A range of appropriate clothing available for use in the activities.

 Disability specific equipment for Waterskiers.

 And most importantly, a positive, welcoming attitude from the CWSA to everyone regardless of ability.

Under Development for 2004.

 Acquiring Windsurfers for use by people with disabilities.

 Offering RYA sailing courses.

 Training across all the sections for more Instructors keen to work with disabled sportspeople.

We are all delighted with the growth of participation by people with disabilities and our new objectives are not only to continue with this development but also to engage the participants in the planning and operation of all aspects of our activities.
